Morning Sunrise

I miss the morning sunrises of the Colorado plains. I would rise early and drive east looking for solitary objects to place against the sometimes vibrant or pastel colors along the horizon. I find myself drawn to the trees that stands naked and exposed on cold wintery mornings.

  1. A great job of showing how vast and open the plains can be. Your image also stirs memories of how cold the plains can be in winter.

  2. I am crazy about bare trees and happy to know that another shares my passion for them. This is a wonderful capture of a sunrise. Have you printed this? I am betting that it would be outstanding.

  3. Much like Anita, I enjoy the bare silhouette of a tree and love the warmth here.

  4. Monte: This looks like a Texas morning! Very similar. I used to like to do that as there was almost endless sky punctuated by the occasional live oak.

  5. Monte (wow a typo just created Monet out of your name), not a bad slip up.
I love this image. I went with Susan out onto the plains and one of my enduring memories of Colorado and the USA are these kinds of scenes and the skies. In fact I thought I had never seen skies like that in New Zealand, or clouds for that matter, but the truth is they are here, I had never really looked at them. Familiarity breeds contempt.
I have America to thank for opening my eyes to so many things, that I now see and value in New Zealand. I miss Colorado, maybe not the fickle weather,I loved the land…………
