Found on one of my walks. Wonder what they were used for?

  1. Monte, imagine if we had a camera that not only took photos of a current scene but also had a date/time setting where we could take a photo of the scene at any date or time of our choosing — past or future. Now that would be amazing and could certainly answer your question about these nails. 😉

    • Yes, that is something I’ve never thought about but alas, the camera is only capable of creating the present moment as an image for us.

  2. If only that old pole could tell the story of everyone who as climbed it or drove a nail or staple into its skin.

    • I guess the best we can do is use our imagination. Now there could really be some stories to tell.

  3. I don’t know about now, but when I was a kid pole climbers hated those things, today of course they use the bucket.

  4. I love the worn wood and it looks like several nails have pierced its skin over the years.

    • I am a sucker for old wood, rusty metal and beautiful women, they catch my attention. In all seriousness, when I do slow down I will see the old weathered post and whatever else is with it. Thanks for stopping by again.

  5. I don’t know what the nails were for, but I certainly remember how the holes and splinters got there. I remember watching the pole climbers shimmy up the poles with their spiked boots and climbing strap. I also remember getting lots of splinters from these beasts.

    • I too have picked a splinter or two from those poles. I remember watching those guys go up and down them with seeming ease, but they wore protective clothing. I had little concept of wearing gloves or bots at that age.
