A place for my photos and random thoughts

Why do we?

with 9 comments

Sometimes as we walk through this world of ours, our inner eye, our vision, our muse, the small voice, whatever it is, calls us to stop, look and take a photo. I’m learning listen to it more often and follow through with it’s nudging. I don’t always know why anymore than other photographers that ask the same question. It may come to me later as symbolism to something in my life. It may just be the subject or the light or the place. I’m not sure it really matters if we know or not. Some of us just need to shoot.

  1. Hmm! I know what you mean. It’s good to not put much thought into it. I would have stopped and taken this photo, too. 🙂

  2. I know the feeling and I agree with Paul… just follow your artist’s eye.

    • Finding and following our eye is awesome! And, we meet others who are doing the same. 🙂

  3. I wonder, do we tend to listen to that “little voice” more easily now with digital photography because there’s no down side (cost) to taking a shot? Just thinking….

    • You’re always thinking which is a good thing. My answer is: Yes. I know I pay more attention to the callings and take more chances with a digital camera in hand than with my film.

  4. Monte your reply to Eark is sometning I have been thinking about for a long time.

When I shot film I knew I had to be frugal with 24 or 36 in a camera and also thought about the processing.

And my question for a while was this,”Did I take more time looking for the “right shot” back when using film or as with today and digital I can shoot crazy, which may cause some photographers to miss the “shot”.

  6. I have tried to observe my different habits as I switch back-and-forth between digital and film. They are different, that’s for sure, but I’m not sure which is better. Yet.
