My Equipment

with 4 comments

My equipment has changed over the years but not as fast as it has the last 5-6 years. Just as the computer industry has upgraded their computers and software so has the camera industry upgraded their cameras and software. I purchased my first DSLR, a Nikon D100, back in 2003 and upgraded to the Nikon D300 in 2008. With all the travel I do I have sold the larger lenses and gone to a more compact and versatile lenses. As for camera bags, I’m one of those people who seems to never find a bag to settle on and that’s because there is no perfect bag. So I have several of them for different circumstances. I have settled on primarily using two at the present time. Of course I have a dream list of more equipment to buy but those will come in due time. Here is what I now use:

Cameras:

  • Nikon D300
  • Sandisk Extreme IV 4G cards (2)
  • EN-El3e Battery (2)
  • Nikon D100 (2)
  • Lexar 1G CF cards (4)
  • EN-El3 Battery (4)

Lenses:

Flash:

Tripod:

  • Monfrotto Carbon Fiber Tripod
  • Monfrotto 486 Ball Head
  • Really Right Stuff L-brackets

Bags:

  • Crumpler 6 Million Dollar Home: For everyday walk around town shooting I carry my D300 with the 18-200mm, an extra lens, flash, blower and my journal.
  • Lowepro Primus: This is a new bag and so far has been good for short trips and day hikes.

Accessories:

  • Wimberly Plamp (which I hardly use)
  • Small Lastolite disc
  • Small LiteDisc
  • Giotto blower
  • Nikon LensPen

Computer and Software:
