Seeing The Ordinary

Rusty Nails

Amazing what we can discover when we take a few steps and go for a walk. After a day of flying I find it renewing to walk while on my overnights. It’s both healthy for me physically and mentally. I never know what I will see and experience on these walks. I’ve had opportunities to meet really interesting people, or find that neat little shop, park, museum. I may discover a bit of the history of the community, something of its past. Whatever I encounter, I’m learning to experience it, feel it, live it. If we do not take forward steps we will not go anywhere nor see and experience new things in life, or even the ordinary and overlooked things in life. Have a super day!

Maybe a telephoto lens …

Running Away

… would have worked better in this image. I shoot almost exclusively with a small 35mm f1.8 lens because most of my photography is focused on what’s around me. However, I’ve found there are times when the telephoto lens would be a better choice such as the image above. A telephoto lens would have been a better choice when trying to shoot a photo of this semi truck as it comes towards me rather than a wide angle. I found it difficult to ¬†keep my focus and framing while running as fast as hell, camera behind my back and shooting blindly. Yep, a telephoto lens would have been a better choice. Have a super day! ūüôā

Airport Luggage Carts

Luggage Carts

I was hoping to visit the Parc du Mont-Royal in Montreal this afternoon but I had the worst time trying to figure out the bus/metro system in getting up there from our hotel. I have another overnight here next week and will spend some time on the internet to figure out a way and not get lost. So, I took my camera for a walk around the airport.

When first looking at this image after I uploaded it I wanted to make it to black and white but after tweaking the contrast a bit I like it better in color. It has this feel of being manipulated in Photoshop but that is not the case.

Number 7

I ate at restaurant where after ordering you find a table then put up the number of your order. I had to take a photo of this one because of the fine print on the card. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

A Moment of Silence

with 2 comments

In Remembrance

Today is the 68th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. That attack sank or damaged three cruisers, three destroyers, and one minelayer, destroyed 188 aircraft, and caused personnel losses of 2,402 killed and 1,282 wounded. The United States entered into World War II. I offer a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in that war.
